Original Sinclair QL boxed Microdrive cartridge.

Title: Cartridge Doctor

Estimated Rarity (1 - 10): 3

Publisher/Author: Talent/Jon R Malone.

Original Media Name: doctor (or Doctor, also seen)

Notes: I assume this one sold well as it's probably one of the most common QL titles that you find for sale, no doubt because it was a very useful utility and could even be considered to have been a 'must have' for all QL owners. I used it recently to recover the deleted files on an original Hungry Harry in Haunted House cartridge. There are a couple of versions known, one of which has a much larger main program file than the other - this appears (although there may be other differences!) to have something to do with coping with extra RAM above the standard 128k. The v3.4g boot file contains instructions to manually change the boot file if extra RAM is installed - otherwise it will only work with 128k RAM - whereas v3.4h seems able to deal with any extra RAM automatically.

Note the last picture is the printed French language manual, which, as you can see, was marketed/sold by Pyramide (better known for producing their own QL games/software).

Visible Files on Media: doctor (62,528 on v3.4g, 35,028 bytes on v3.4h), backup (321 bytes), boot (264 bytes on v3.4g, 116 bytes on v3.4h), badq (2,029 bytes), bad1 (245 bytes).
