Original Sinclair QL boxed Microdrive cartridge.

Title: Hungry harry in Haunted House

Estimated Rarity (1 - 10): 9

Publisher/Author: Snowsoft, Richard Snowdon and John Goodwin.

Original Media Name: Û

Notes: Fantastically amateur production with hand-drawn cover art, photocopied and then stuck around a Sinclair blank Microdrive cartridge box (as shown in the last picture). My cartridge had been used by its original owner to store other files and some of the original files were missing. Fortunately I was able to use Cartridge Doctor to restore the deleted original files. So while my version is technically not an original dump, it may be as close as I'll ever get to one - and it works! Note also that a devious copy protection allows you to make one backup and then it deletes the 'backup' SuperBasic file, meaning that no further backups can be made. There is also a machine code routine that checks the name of the cartridge (the accented upper-case 'U') and if the cartridge doesn't have that name, then it will fail to load. Quite clever. It also saves high-scores to the same cartridge, hence the write-protect tab isn't present and that of course means there is a higher risk that important files could be deleted etc - perhaps the original owner accidentally deleted something, rendering it useless, and then used the cartridge for other purposes.

Visible Files on Media: (may not be the original order) boot (3,026 bytes), HHiHHcode (40,960 bytes), ûûûæ (2,000 bytes), names (2,999 bytes - size is not original as it contains names and scores from the original owner).
