Original Sinclair QL related hardware.
Manufacturer: QJump, written by Tony Tebby.
Item Name: SuperTOOLKIT.
Estimated Rarity (1 - 10): 7 (in original boxed form, the Toolkit itself and later versions thereof are widely available)
Related Software: None.
Notes: Originally known as QL-Toolkit and made available on microdrive cartridge in a large Sinclair/QJump branded silver box, that product evolved into this, the QL SuperTOOLKIT which was made available as a ROM cartridge and as it was version 2.XX it became known as Toookit II, or TK2 etc and was probably the most useful add-on for QL systems, including many time saving features and other improvements that really should have been present when the QL was launched. In fact, once you get used to some of the basic TK2 features, going back to a standard QL without e.g. wildcards or the SuperBASIC editor is a rather tiresome experience.
The package included the ROM cartridge and also a plastic stand for safe-keeping of 6 ROM cartridges. The ROM version included in my box is v2.05. I also have an original v2.20.
Tony Tebby was an ex-Sinclair employee who wrote the operating system for the QL, so the SuperTOOLKIT can therefore be viewed as a natural development, something akin to being a "semi-official" Sinclair QL product! Fortunately the actual Toolkit code is freely available and is relatively easy to add to any standard QL.
